Privacy Policy
- Your recordings and memoir stay on your iPhone and in your own private iCloud. We can’t see them.
- Transcription happens on your device. Your voice is never sent to us or anyone else.
- No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- The only thing we receive is feedback you choose to send us.
This policy explains what Mumoir (“the app”), made by Ferret & Wheel (“we”), does with your information. If you have questions, write to contact@ferret-and-wheel.app.
Your recordings and memoir
The recordings you make, their transcripts and the chapters you organise them into are stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is turned on for your Apple Account, they are also synced through Apple’s CloudKit to your private iCloud database, so they are backed up and available on your other devices.
Only you can access your private iCloud database. We have no access to it and never receive copies of your memories. Apple’s handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.
When you delete a memory it moves to the bin, where it stays for 30 days before it is permanently removed from your device and iCloud.
Transcription
Mumoir turns speech into text entirely on your iPhone, using Apple’s on-device speech recognition or an optional on-device Whisper model. Your audio is not uploaded for transcription.
The first time you use a language or choose the advanced model, the app downloads the speech model it needs. Apple’s language files come from Apple. The advanced Whisper model is downloaded from Hugging Face. These are ordinary file downloads: like any web request they reveal your IP address to the server, but no recordings or personal content are sent.

Microphone
Used only to record the memories you choose to record.
Speech recognition
Used to transcribe your recordings on your device.
Notifications (optional)
Used to remind you a few days before a memory in the bin is permanently deleted. Reminders are scheduled on your device and contain no personal content.
Feedback you send us
If you use Send feedback in the app, we receive:
- your message and whether it is an idea or a problem report;
- your email address, only if you add one so we can reply;
- the app version, iOS version, device type (for example “iPhone”) and language/region setting, to help us reproduce problems.
This is stored in Mumoir’s CloudKit database on Apple’s servers, which only we can read. It is not linked to your Apple Account or name. If the app can’t send it that way, it opens a pre-filled email instead, which you can review before sending.
We use feedback only to answer you and to improve Mumoir. We keep it for as long as it’s useful for that, and you can ask us to delete it at any time.
What we don’t do
- We don’t require an account or collect your name.
- We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
- We don’t sell or share your information.
Children
Mumoir is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices and rights
You can delete any memory in the app, and remove Mumoir’s iCloud data in the Settings app under your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. To access, correct or delete feedback you’ve sent, email contact@ferret-and-wheel.app and we’ll respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live (for example the UK or EU), you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
